Career and Technical Eduacation is a very important component of the students education experience at the South Pike School District. It is our desire and goal to make the learning experiences that your child have while under our watch both meaningful and worthy of their time. In today's global society, we must prepare every student to be ready to enter the workforce or continue their education on the post secondary level. I invite all parents to check out the offerings of Career and Technical education and encourage your child to explore one of the career fields that we offer at our center.
Billy W. Passman,
Mrs. Krystal Minor was the guest speaker for Business Management and Fundamentals on Tuesday, Feb. 22, and her topic was "Keys to Success". She told students about her company BFAC and her responsibilities as Chief Operations Officer. She explained that for students to be successful in their careers they must believe in themselves, build relationships by networking, research opportunities, organize, create vision boards, participate in job shadowing and internships, and become leaders and philantropists in the community. She ended with a challenge--Who are you going to inspire? When Mrs. Slay, current Management teacher asked her student Tiesha to quote something that was instilled in her memory about Mrs. Minor's presentation Tiesha made this statement, "When you wake up every morning have something positive to say about yourself."
Krystal is one of Mrs. Slay's former students who has excelled in the business world. Mrs. Slay tries every day to make all her students realize the importance of good work ethic and striving to do their best.
The Career & Technical Center would like to thank Mrs. Carolyn Holbrook for coordinating the Real World. All students at the Career & Technical Center encountered a real world experience of budgeting their finances.
