South Pike High School PTO met at 6:00 P.M. Monday, December 4, 2006, in the cafeteria.  Parents, guardians, and faculty were in attendance.

Congratulations to Mrs. Bonnie

Iverson and  students Tommy Myers, Anna Hodges, Blake Watkins, and Treniea Tolliver for placing fourth in Bear Bowl at Southwest Mississippi Community College in November 2006.  Thirteen teams participated in the bowl.

SPHS BLOOD DRIVE

 

SPHS held a blood drive in November at the Willie Earl Jones Coliseum.  T-shirts were given to all donors.  (Note:  Participants may donate two times after turning 17 to be eligible for the Red Cord Program.)

 

Black and Gold Day at USM

 

Black and Gold Day was November 18, 2006, at the University of  Southern Mississippi.  High school seniors and their parents  were invited to a full day of activities to introduce them to the Southern Miss family and to learn about the University’s academic programs and student services. They also had the opportunity to join guided tours of the campus and to attend Southern Miss vs. UAB at The Rock.

 

 

Education should be the process of helping everyone to discover his uniqueness, to teach him how to develop that uniqueness, and then to show him how to share it because that’s the only reason for having anything.

Children need all school workers.  A person is not “just” a janitor, not “just” a custodian.  Janitors can see children when teachers don't see them.  And bus drivers recognize that children who are disruptive on the bus are likely to be disorderly in the classroom.  They are partners in education.  We need each other to make this work.
